Looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight each day for your time zone – which means that some people are always playing ‘today’s game’ while others are playing ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for Monday’s puzzle instead then click here: NYT Strands hints and answers for Monday, September 15 (game #561).
Strands is the NYT’s latest word game after the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands hints.

NYT Strands today (game #562) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #562, are…
- GLOVES
- CABLE
- HELMET
- PULLEY
- HARNESS
- CARABINER
- SPANGRAM: ZIPLINING
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 2 mistakes
Shortly after getting “love” as a non-game word I saw GLOVES – a word which seemed to have absolutely no connection with the theme. This, I’d decided, was going to be one of those difficult Strands games where you have no idea what you are looking for until it comes together at the end.
There was one big clue to help make this game a little easier – the letter Z. I saw the word ‘zip’, but knowing that wasn’t long enough for a game word or possible spangram I decided it must be a word that began with zip- and, well, I could only think of two: zipline and ZIPLINING.
Knowing the spangram didn’t offer much help, though. I found CABLE, but beyond that was stuck so took two hints to get me closer to finishing.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Monday, September 15, game #561)
- FOOL
- MOON
- DEVIL
- EMPRESS
- MAGICIAN
- LOVERS
- STAR
- SPANGRAM: TAROTCARDS
