The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has released a new poster, but some fans were left baffled by the decision to include what many consider a major spoiler.
We don’t have long to wait before The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits the big screen, as it’s released on April 1. But fans are disappointed that Nintendo has spoiled one character’s appearance ahead of the movie’s release.
Sparking a conversation, one Reddit user shared the poster with a spoiler tag in the r/movies subreddit. At first glance, people were confused about why a spoiler tag had been added, but if you click it, you’ll be greeted by a familiar character.

New Poster for ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ from r/movies
Yes, that’s right, the poster clearly shows Fox McCloud, the protagonist of the popular Star Fox franchise, who is a recurring figure in the Super Smash Bros video games. But fans are disappointed that this was how he was announced, rather than with a big, surprise appearance in the movie.
What was clearly intended to get fans hyped appears to have angered them instead, with many taking to the Reddit thread to complain about the decision to drop this huge reveal a week before the movie’s release.
WanderWut wrote: “Showing that the Starfox is going to be in the movie is pretty huge so I have no idea why they would show this a week before release on a poster of all things. Really wish I saw him organically as a surprise while watching the movie in theaters.”
VampireHunterAlex agreed, commenting: “Why would they spoil this!?!!? I would’ve been delighted to find out in theaters.”
FourParksOneHeart said: “Would have loved to not be spoiled by this,” and g_r_e_y added: “this is a huge bummer lmao i would have exploded if i got to see this reveal in theaters”.
Star Fox’s reveal definitely feels anticlimactic, but does this mean that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has even bigger reveals up its sleeve? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
